CARES ACT REPORTING ON EMERGENCY FINANCIAL AID GRANTS TO STUDENTS On March 27, 2020, the Federal government enacted the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Pub L. No. 116-136, providing funds to institutions from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to make Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. The law requires institutions to report certain information related to the use of these funds. The following information is reported for the period, August 30,2020.

  1. Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

  2. Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics received $88,626.00 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 08/30/2020: $34,400.

  4. The estimated total number of 86 students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

  5. 42 total students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 08/30/2020.

  6. Method used: The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES ACT

 

Eligibility: We took many factors into consideration upon determining the need and distribution of the HERF GRANT.

  • Students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an offered program and cannot be on leave of absence.

  • Students must be maintaining satisfactory progress in course of study.

  • Students choosing to receive grant funds must have forms completed and submitted no later than Wednesday, May 20,2020 by 12:00 PM (Noon).

  • Distribution of funds facilitated during the Coronavirus Pandemic Temporary School Closures includes, changing the agreed upon educational delivery method from “in-school” classes to temporary distance learning.

  • Students filled out an application answering questions about needs based on disruption caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

  • Students signed statement: I attest that all information is true and accurate, and I am requesting a one-time Emergency Financial Aid funding to help cover the cost of expenses incurred due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I understand that I will be unable to revise this request after submitting it, and I understand that the administration of my school will determine my eligibility for funding based on my responses to the questions above.

 

7.   Instructions, Directions, or guidance provided by Hogan Institute of Cosmetology                                                                                                                                  and Esthetics to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.

 

  • Grant Notice to student 5/13/2020                                                                  

  • The U.S. Secretary of Education, in response to the CARES Act, recently notified colleges and universities that in the coming weeks financial resources will be made available to provide grants to students for expenses related to disruptions to their educations due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

  • Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics cares about their students and want to help during the Coronavirus pandemic.

  • In accordance with recommendations and guidelines from the U.S. Secretary of Education, Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics will distribute funds received through the CARES Act to students.

  • Hogan Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics has applied for assistance for our students through the CARES ACT.

  • Signed Student Statement: By accepting this payment, you acknowledge that you will be required to provide receipts and/or documentation to prove the funds were spent on qualifying expenses incurred after March 16th and are a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. Records will be audited by U.S. Department of Education and State agencies.
